Meeanjin Markets 2019

Dark and Disturbing is looking forward to heading back to Meeanjin Markets for a 3rd time.

This time we’re going to trial NOT packing up the whole shop and instead allow customers to try on shirts, order online (at the markets), and we will send them shirts as soon as the event is over. This way customers don’t have to carry their purchases around with them, and the shirts will arrive in their homes over the next week. We’re not sure if the experiment will work, but we’re looking forward to having a bit of a different set up this time around. We’ll let you know how we go.

Meeanjin Markets:

Friday 31st May (9am – 9pm) and Saturday 1st June (9am – 5pm)
Reddacliff Place, George Street, Brisbane.

You can find them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

Boundary Lines at Griffith University Art Museum

Vernon’s new work the island features in Boundary Lines at Griffith University Art Museum.

Curated by Angela Goddard, the exhibition explores a variety of contexts and iconographies to consider how boundaries control and dominate individuals and communities.

Three works form his the installation – a 10 minute 3-channel video with two large text works. We also worked with Vernon and the Museum team to develop two tshirts to accompany the exhibition. These are not available online or from our occasional markets. They are only available from Griffith University Art Museum and only for the duration of the show.

Details: Boundary Lines, Griffith University Art Museum
Date: 20 November 2018 – 23 February 2019

The shop is back online

Just a quick announcement to let you know that the shop is back online after our weekend in Sydney. We don’t have all of our stock listed – you’ll notice the proppaNOW shirts are missing. They’re currently in transit from Sydney and will arrive in a little while.

Thanks MCA ARTBAR!

We had a great time at the MCA on Friday evening at the MCA ArtBar curated by the very deadly Megan Cope. We met a lot of new faces who hadn’t heard of the proppaNOW artists before.

It was great to introduce them to their works. We’re back home today and have been doing a fresh stock-take. Unfortunately, some of the proppaNOW shirts are still in Sydney and won’t be back in Brisbane until around New Year so they won’t be available for sale until then.

Online shop is temporarily closed

Just a quick announcement to let you know that we’ve taken the shop offline for a week as we both rebuild the old website and pack up our shirts and head to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney for the annual Christmas MCA ArtBar.

We’ll be back home very late on Tuesday evening, and we’ll spend all day Wednesday updating the website’s inventory and getting the shop back online.
